| . Apart from our local ancient village of Dalwood with it's 12th Century Tuckers Arms Inn - with restaurant specialising in fresh fish & game, including locally caught crab, lobster & lemon sole - Summer Lodge is within easy reach of other attractions such as Lyme Regis and the World Heritage Jurassic Coast; Dartmoor and the Blackdown Hills. There's lots of special events throughout the year in and around the Axe Valley including several village and country fairs, Axminster Garden and Craft Festival, Colyton Tractor Rally, Branscombe Air Day, Lyme Regis Lifeboat Week, Beer Regatta and Sidmouth's Folk Week. Axminster - visitors to Axminster are often surprised to find a small, ancient market town surrounded by beautiful countryside, yet with many of the amenities they expect from a larger town. The swimming pool, sports complex and modern supermarkets are positioned away from the town centre, enabling it to retain its special character. The layout of the town, with the church of St Mary The Virgin and the Minster Green at its heart, displays its Saxon origins. There is a general market in the town square on Thursdays. Famous for its carpets and more recently put on the map with the opening of Hugh Fearnley–Whittingstall's River Cottage shop. Axmouth - this picture village features thatched cottages and farmhouses - the delightful harbour is the starting point for the Undercliff Nature Reserve walk to Lyme Regis and is also home to the Sea Discovery Centre and Axe Yacht Club. Bird watchers will love the uninterrupted views of the many breeds of birds that can be seen on the river Axe at this point. Seaton - famous for its heritage tram railway. New is the Seaton 'Land Train' which offers a unique trip to the coastal village of Beer. Beer - the picturesque fishing village of Beer has stunning coastal walks and fascinating past that includes smuggling, lacemaking and Beer stone. Also worth visiting is Pecorama Gardens and Light Railway. Lyme Regis - The 'Pearl Of Dorset'. The narrow tangle of streets and shops tumble down to the ancient Cobb harbour where a cloaked Meryl Streep famously stood in 'The French Lieutenant's Woman'. Weston, near Sidmouth - see friendly donkeys at the World renowned Donkey Sanctuary. Entry is free. Events In Devon's Axe Valley 2008: May
